Activity Update
October 2026 Newsletter Article: Activity Department
It’s here! It’s here! It’s here! Fall has arrived after a long spell of hot weather! Our activity calendar reflects the new season!
Not only are leaves in the air, but music fills the halls at Montrose Health Center. We have been enjoying the Noisy Neighbors, Mike Davis music, Steve Brecount (sometimes with Gracie, Too!), Diane DeJaynes, Line dancers: Keosippi Kickers & Silver Steppers, church groups like Living Waters Assembly of God and Family Worship Center, Country Gospel Music by Brian Richardson & friends, and acoustic music by Larisa & Stace. Nothing brings joy like good music!
Fun fall-themed craft and food projects are planned in October. Homecoming fun brings back old memories of high school days. Residents and staff will enjoy a mid-month Fall Party and some Pumpkin Painting contests together. We have Central Lee’s Homecoming Parade and a Halloween parade coming right by our home! It feels like family here.
Our residents will be involved with a community food drive and several Operation Christmas Child boxes. They love to help others! Our community and family members are welcome to bring shelf-stable food and join us.
Finally, Montrose Health Center has become known for our non-traditional Trick-or Treat event, so bring the kids out from 5:00-7:00pm on October 31st and see what the little goblins will be given this year. The kids always bring gladness to our residents’ faces!
Keep smiling, friends, grab a jacket, and enjoy the fall days!

We are kicking off our new Fall & Winter menus, filled with delicious soups, hearty favorites, and warm, cozy meals that are perfect for the cooler months ahead. There’s nothing better than comfort food on a chilly fall or winter day!
NEW Always Available Menu
We are also launching our new Always Available Menu, giving our residents even more choices at mealtime! Residents will have several delicious options to choose from when they’re looking for something different from the meal of the day.
Just a few of our new choices include:
• Hamburger or Cheeseburger
• Pork Tenderloin
• Pizza
• Mini Tacos
• And MUCH more!
Coming in Mid-October: Open Breakfast!
Breakfast is getting a BIG makeover! In mid-October, we will launch our new Open Breakfast Menu, giving our residents a more restaurant-style dining experience.Instead of having only one set breakfast, residents will be able to order from a menu and choose what sounds good to them!
Some of the choices will include:
🥞 Pancakes
🧇 Waffles
🍳 Omelet Bar
🥓 Breakfast favorites
☕ And much more!
We know that food is about so much more than simply serving a meal. It’s about choice, independence, comfort, enjoyment, and creating an experience our residents can look forward to each day.
Here at Montrose Health Center, we strive to provide the very best care for our residents, and that includes listening to what they enjoy and finding new ways to make mealtimes special.
Our Dietary Department is excited for this new chapter, and we can’t wait for our residents to enjoy all the delicious changes ahead!

Nursing Update
Welcome, Fall!
October is here, and we are enjoying the beautiful colors and cooler temperatures that come with the changing season. With school back in full swing, families are settling into their fall routines, and our residents enjoy hearing about the activities and adventures of their children and grandchildren.
October Focus: Staying Connected
October is a great time to focus on emotional wellness and the importance of staying connected. Visits, phone calls, family photos, and simple conversations can brighten a resident’s day and help them feel connected to the people they love.
We encourage families to spend time reminiscing with their loved ones this month. Ask about favorite fall memories, Halloween traditions, school days, or family activities from years past. These conversations can bring back wonderful memories and create new moments together.
As the leaves begin to change, we look forward to enjoying all that fall has to offer. Thank you to our families for being such an important part of our community.
Wishing everyone a happy and beautiful October! Jensen Riley, Director of Nursing
