Activity Update
“Don’t wait for someone to bring you flowers. Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul.” –Luther Burbank
Spring brings the season of nurturing our gardens so they can flourish into a place of beauty. In the same way, when we provide moments that nurture our Montrose Health Center community of residents, we help them to flourish at this time of life! We specialize in beautiful moments!
In April, we took a day trip to the Dutchman’s Store. The journey there over beautiful Highway 2’s rolling hills and timber was filled with cheerful conversation between our staff and residents. The store itself is a shopping adventure—unique foods, books, fabric, and fun. We shared a meal at the in-store buffet and then loaded our treasures for the trip back home. We made a day of memories!
May brings more opportunities to bloom and flourish!
Our “Honoring Our Mothers” Ice Cream Social will be held Friday, May 8th at 2:00pm. What a great time to share with those who nurtured us and watched us grow over the years! Come and celebrate your moms with MHC.
National Skilled Nursing Care Week’s “Moments in Bloom” theme is just perfect for May. We have fun events daily to share our stories, a Garden Produce Scavenger Hunt, A Tabletop Garden demonstration, a Garden Party on the Front Porch, Acts of Kindness in Bloom, music, carnival games, and more! This year’s week truly focuses on flourishing through big and small moments each day!
Our Montrose Health Center family has watched our staff bloom and grow, so we will be having a graduation party to honor the achievements of our high school and college grads with our residents.
Take time this month to bring someone in your life flowers…Make your own Moments in Bloom!
Happy May,
Laura Zechin, Activity Director
Dietary Update
Hello Yall! The month of May is very exciting for us in the Dietary Department; we are preparing for our Montrose Community Meal Program. The meals will be made by the MHC Dietary Staff. The program will start June 1St. We will delivery delicious lunch meals Monday-Friday (excluding holidays) to senior citizens in the Montrose Community for a small cost of $5 per meal. If you, or if you know someone who would benefit from this program, please reach out to Mallory Orton or me. We look forward to serving our community!
Sincerely,

Nursing Update
Dear Families,
As we welcome the month of May, I would like to take a moment to connect with you and share our continued commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to your loved ones.
Spring is a season of renewal, and here in our community, we are embracing that spirit. With the warmer weather, we are increasing opportunities for residents to spend time outdoors, participate in seasonal activities, and enjoy meaningful social engagement. Our team is working hard to ensure that each resident experiences comfort, dignity, and a sense of connection every day.
We remain dedicated to maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Our staff continues to follow best practices in infection prevention and overall wellness monitoring. We also encourage families to stay involved—your presence, communication, and support make a significant difference in the lives of our residents.
May is also a time when we recognize the incredible work of our nursing team during National Nurses Week. I am proud of the compassion, professionalism, and dedication our staff demonstrates daily. Their commitment is at the heart of everything we do.
If you have any questions, concerns, or simply wish to check in, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Open communication is essential, and we value your partnership in care.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Warm regards,
Jensen Riley
Director of Nursing
