“Have you come to sing Pumpkin carols?”
---from “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” By Charles M. Schulz
Relish the beauty and fun of autumn! Putting on sweaters and flannel for front porch sitting brings the craving for delicious fall foods and good books.
At MHC, our book cart and read aloud times will make appearances on our October calendar. We plan to read some Gladys Taber and her thoughts from New England, and some James Herriott, everyone’s favorite Yorkshire vet. We want to share our love of reading with the Halloween trick-or-treaters and will have a table of used children’s books, along with the candy. (Anyone is welcome to donate to our project!) Before the snow flies, we plan to spruce up our Little Free Library with some new paint.
Our residents also love to try delicious new recipes. We plan to bake Spiced Apple Pumpkin Bread in our bread machines with our group. Since chrysanthemums are not the only fall blooms, we will be making Blooming Onions and Blooming Apples for two of the October activities.
We hope all of you find time to curl up with a good book and some of the tastes of autumn! We wish you joy this time of year!
