Our Montrose Health Center residents are anticipating spring in the month of March.  Of course, we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Spring and warmer days with the group. In addition, the Activity Department will be launching two new clubs during the freshness of the spring season.

First, we will be attempting to bring a Dulcimer Club to MHC.  Mountain dulcimers and hammered dulcimers will be featured at a monthly picking event, welcoming residents, staff, and the community members to bring their instruments and pick with us. Masks will be required for community participation.

Next, the Activity Department will begin a book club.  Bess Streeter Aldrich will be our featured author with her novel, A Lantern in Her Hand.  Pioneers and the towns they built weave the heritage many of us share. MHC will be using the book club & lesson plan materials from the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation of Elmwood, Nebraska. Born in Iowa, Mrs. Aldrich has quite a life story of her own, making us proud of her Midwestern roots. She loved the people and camaraderie of the local communities.  Her writing and her actions highlight these priorities.  Her outlook should bring a breath of fresh air to us.

Celebrate spring with us as March brings those brisk breezes, sweeping away the wintertime blues!
