A Valued Volunteer

January is Activity Professionals month. It’s time to highlight our Activities volunteer, Marsha Kavanagh.

Marsha came to Montrose Health Center after her retirement from years of Activity Director work locally.  Each time Marsha is here, she shows such kindness and expertise in interacting with the elderly. She is known for her very candid speaking and for her lovely sense of humor.  Marsha’s many ideas for crafts and food activities bring a purpose and an awareness of well-being to our people. Crafting projects have included Card Making, Bird Houses, Painting, Gingerbread Houses, Snowflake Construction, and more.  Residents have assisted Marsha with preparing waffles, apple butter, painted cookies and homemade ice cream.  In addition, Marsha leads a Friday morning Bible Study group for our residents’ spiritual benefit.

This wonderful volunteer has also enlisted her husband, Jim, to use his woodworking skills to build several large shelves for department storage and to pre-cut birdhouses for our MHC men to construct.  The Kavanaghs have donated their time and materials for these projects.  Marsha is known for bringing treats to encourage our staff and for words of encouragement or advice for our team.  We are blessed to have Marsha Kavanagh as a vital part of our Montrose Health Center family and it is a pleasure to tell our families and friends about her.

Thank you, Marsha…and Jim, too.
