“Joy rises in me, like a summer’s morn:
“Peace, Peace on Earth, the Prince of Peace is born.”
--Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Joy and Peace to you from Montrose Health Center activity department!
Joy is heard in every “Merry Christmas!” we say to one another. Music, and memories, and children, and giving all combine to make December a month of joy. Memories of past Christmases are precious, so one of our goals in Activities is to bring some of those memories back to us. When we make Christmas cookies, we remember our mothers and grandmothers, busy in those loving, happy kitchens. When we sing the timeless carols together, we remember lifting our hearts with our church families during other Christmases. We remember the school Christmas programs and caroling with friends and family. When we give and make gifts together, we remember saving up our allowances to buy our dads and moms special gifts of love. We remember homemade gifts, crafted with love. When we watch vintage Christmas movies, we smile as the familiar stories unfold. They never get old! And there’s no fun like Santa on Christmas morning…rumor has it that he is making a stop in Montrose.
Peace is knowing the love of friends and family and remembering those no longer with us. Peace is focusing on the quiet, spiritual moments of this season. Peace is a quiet cup of cocoa with friends. Peace is knowing that kind staff is present to help and to lend a listening ear. Peace is looking above at the stars and remembering the Angels’ Christmas message of Good News and Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Mankind because of one Child’s birth—the Prince of Peace. Christmas brings a lasting peace to our hearts.
May joy and peace be yours! Merry Christmas!
