Activity Update
August is full of good times with people! Social interaction brings joy and depth to our lives—it is the same with our residents at Montrose Health Center!
We ended July with a busload of our folks going to Mount Pleasant to help greet Iowa’s Annual Party on Wheels, RAGBRAI. We waved and watched the riders, viewed the vendors, admired the décor, grabbed milk shakes and headed home. Our group was part of the big Iowa event that attracts people from around the country and around the world!
We will begin August with MHC friendships and our Summer Bash on the first Saturday. It doesn’t get better than food, friends, and fun!
Throughout August, we will celebrate the competitive fun of the Olympics, the food of the Iowa State Fair, and the historic fun of Montrose’s Watermelon Festival—parade, melons, princesses, treats! Those crowds represent the best of coming together for good purposes. Our own local Y-Kids from the Fort Madison area will be coming to pay us a visit and spend time with our residents.
Back to School Time is like a fresh start at the end of a happy summer. Our residents participate in the excitement by making crafts and remembering their own school days. We have loved sending some special encouragement to local students and hope to do it again this year!
Celebrating new life is one of our favorite joys: residents and staff will join in honoring kitchen staff member, Shelby’s new baby girl with a baby shower. Gifts, food and a baby. Who gets to hold baby Naomi first?
Our regular church groups, musicians and other volunteers bring positive conversations, inspiring music and words, and feel like friends & family to us. They are joy-bringers!
“I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun” --Pastor Charles Swindoll.
People are why we are here! Let’s all keep that in our hearts and minds every day!
